Pre Fab Offices

Anyone think the Quality of writing in tv, film, and song has dropped in recent times?

I may sound like a bitter old fart here. I do not watch much tv nor do I listen to radio for my music much. Occasionally I do hear current top 40 stuff, or see tv show though. At a friends house or whatever. I am inclined to believe that the creativity level in most of this has declined and dumbed down. Could it be all the zillion cable channels and the need to fill time blocks. On music it's seems artist are way more manufactured and dim witted than previous decades. Though we always had pre- fab groups. I just don't get it. Oh and the local top 10 pop station which is mostly songs about fooling around in the dance club. You always have callers in the morning talking about what the local welfare office or food bank has to offer WTF? Is this the info outlet for white trash who got pregnant behind a dumpster at a dance club? They play this station at work sometimes drives me nuts. Hope I did not seem to harsh there.

You're not being harsh by any means; you've hit the nail right on the head. Many of the cable television shows, and now a lot of the big three network ones, are unmitigated crap and usually disappear after only a few episodes. Unfortunately, there seems to be an endless supply of these "reality" shows and another quickly fills its space.
Back in the '60's and '70's music came from the soul; now "music" (and I use the term loosely) is churned out like parts in an assembly plant with only one thought in mind - "How much money can we make from this?"
No comparison, really.

Home Design Sense - Home Office

Home Office Design can offer everything from a computer desk to space saving ideas for smaller spaces. With a wide range of finishes there will be furniture to fit in with your existing decor to suit your budget.

Choosing the best room to situate a home office also depends on your type of home business. If your activities require daytime phone calls operating in the same time zone you can easily operate from the living or a dining room; unless you have children. Hen you will need a room that is set away from the noise.

Organization of office space is far more than merely desks, files and equipment. It is also how the organization complements the type of business and office purpose. You can create a home office as pleasing to the eye as it is practical.

Custom lighting, window treatments and floor mats add the finishing touches to a great workplace. Custom home office furniture means that you are not limited to pre-fab dimensions or colors you don't want. There is a wide range of colors and finishes of melamines, laminates and veneers.

The lighting should be adequate for your particular vision. So; be sure to have enough light to see what you are viewing. Also; keep looking away from the computer now and again to give your eyes the necessary rest they need. And; use a wrist rest for the keyboard to help prevent carpal tunnel. Of course; most new keyboards already have wrist rests attached.

Be creative a build a unit with two bookcases and attach a desk top in-between or use a free-standing desk. Use bi-fold doors, a folding screen or drapery panels to conceal the desk area. Built-ins may be too expensive, and computer armoires won't be a good investment because they usually don't contain enough work surface. A modular office-furniture system, which typically includes desks, computer tables, bookshelves, and file cabinets, is the most affordable option.

Glass and ceramic jars work well for pens and pencils. For personal papers, mail, stationery and magazines, use magazine holders in a color that ties in with the surrounding decor. Add pictures or business posers to the walls so he office area doesn't appear to stark and un-inviting.

Look in your garage to see if there's an underutilized area to store extra supplies. Low cost copiers and fax machines, sometimes integrated into an all in one machine with a flatbed scanner and color printer, have enabled the home office to become an efficient and productive place to work. Many of us can now work at home part of the time, and save commuting time and energy costs in the bargain!

Above all; dress like a professional. If you dress like you are hanging out at a gym you will be tempted to lounge around and not get much done. You are in a work environment and will be tempted to take a break and watch some TV. Remember; you can't do those things when working in a business building. So why would you do it when you have your own business? You shouldn't. Be professional at all times when working in your office. Dressing in work clothes creates a professional atmosphere.
