How to build my own reflector scope from scratch (not using any computer)? - Beginner questions?
I'm thinking to make an 8 "-10" range reflector everyday things (w / some food products). Is there any specific information on what type of mirror concave should I use? Or a vanity mirror is already good enough? About the second (plane and ellipse) mirror, How I can know the size and distance primary mirror? How are they related? And how do you calculate the PA. The last thing .. making an eye (planning on using PVC pipe) .. from what I saw in my 3 "scope, the smaller the vessel diameter concave magnification better. So that's pretty much of the plan. I'm not sure how difficult or easy it is to make my own Newtonian telescope. Enter your comments. And tell me if I'm crazy with my plan. I only know the basics. I'm just a big fan of areas.
EDIT: Some vanity mirrors has a concave shape. You can say that because you apprear most important reflection. What if you just use cheap mirrors as a vanity mirror?
Fifty years ago, it used to be very common that people make their own telescopes. Today it has become very rare, because the commercial telescopes have become relatively cheap. One result of this is that it is very difficult to find the parts necessary to build your own field. Unless you have a strong motivation to learn how to do this, and to track down the necessary parts, I would not recommend building their own spheres. Because the pieces are hard to find, are very expensive, and a backyard telescope will cost several times more than a commercial telescope built. The work is much cheaper in China, where nearly all telescopes are made today. From your question, clearly have little idea of what it means. Any device utilizes an area of "first" (aluminum on the front) precision ground mirror as the primary. A mirror is a surface "second" (on the Aluminum Rear) with mirror far from the precision to form an image. It is possible to grind and polish like a mirror to yourself kits are available. Aluminized mirror must be mirror by a professional applicator.
